They Feed Off Buildings

Using fashion and film, architect Rasa Weber and urban planner Luisa Rubisch reveal the overlooked potential of demolition debris.

They go by the name They Feed of Buildings and they make “urban terrazzo” out of chunks of concrete and terracotta brick. Their aim is to capitalize on the potential of construction debris, and to reconsider buildings as sources of endlessly recyclable materials. My interview with Rasa and Luisa appeared in DesignTO Festival’s 2020 guide, highlighting the Berlin studio’s first Canadian presentation, at Harbourfront Centre.
